Tributes have been paid to Conservative MP Sir David Amess after he was killed during a constituency meeting in Leigh-on Sea in Essex, UK.
Local residents choked back tears as they lay flowers near the scene of his stabbing.
He was “so kind to everyone” said Rofique Ali, a local Conservative Party member, who described the 69-year-old MP as his best friend in the world.
Flags were also lowered to half mast in Downing Street as Prime Minister Boris Johnson referred to Sir David as one of the “kindest, nicest, most gentle people in politics”.
