How did you first get keen on your medium and what attracts you to it particularly?

In my early work, I recorded myself and my household’s every day life and represented these occasions in a single channel video. While I used to be growing new concepts for my subsequent art work, I got here throughout a media piece introducing a narrative about Nepal. I used to be notably impressed by what I discovered a few small Nepalese village named Broq-pa, situated at the finish of the Silk Road. In Broq-pa, flowers have particular which means. For the villagers there, flowers symbolize love, happiness, and devoted appreciation for God. Broq-pa’s girls are dedicated to rising flowers of their gardens they usually embellish their hair with flowers day-after-day.

I wished to borrow the meaningfulness of flowers I discovered in Broq-pa and mirror it in my artwork and life. I consider flowers can convey a bit of happiness into folks’s lives, and I need to share the joyful spirit of Broq-pa by means of my sequence, Scent of Broq-pa.

How has your model and follow modified over the years?

The first works in the Broq-pa sequence have been floral portraits of my twin daughters. Now, I’m increasing the sequence with photos of seniors, single moms, folks from multicultural backgrounds, and totally different age teams. This new work goes past my early self-portraits with contemporary flowers by including experiments in varied media. The new sequence combines the traits of pictures and portray and makes use of contemporary flowers and dry flowers collectively, and can ultimately embody works in collage.

Can you stroll us by means of your course of? How lengthy do you spend on one work? How have you learnt when it’s completed?

Each individual has their very own distinctive identification and their very own coloration. I think about the coloration an individual has and attempt to discover the proper flower to symbolize her or him. An individual’s coloration is derived from my impression of them, their pores and skin coloration, a fancy dress they wore that day, their make-up, or their belongings. I attempt to uncover each attainable expression of the individual.

My works are primarily created in the type of a sequence. Although each bit is totally different, a single portrait usually takes three days. However, most of my initiatives contain a number of folks, so some take three months whereas others take three years. The Scent of Broq-pa sequence has been happening since 2016.

My work in collage begins with the assortment and drying of the flowers. The remaining coloration varies relying on the drying interval, and it could take so long as three years to precise the biggest vary of coloration. I take advantage of quite a lot of processes for drying flowers, then type and organize them by coloration to make the colours extra harmonious. I repeat the steps I utilized in the most profitable prototype to make the remaining piece. In the case of my video work, it takes a few yr and a half to gather and edit knowledge to seize the 4 seasons.

I really feel {that a} piece is completed when my experiments, ideas, and actions are lastly well-organized and the expression I wished to attain feels full.

Scent of Broq-pa 09212019 “Broqpa is the name of a small village in Nepal. The artist first learned of it from a TV documentary, The Last Empire. Everyday the women in Broqpa – living at the end of the Silk Road – work to grow flowers in their gardens. Because they live surrounded by mountains of stone, they call flowers, love. Their love is the power for them to survive in this sterile environment. The artist’s work starts from sharing their attitude toward life and the people around her. The artist wishes to share it with the hope of showing the scent of Broqpa in which a tiny thing called flower is a trigger for finding happiness.” – the artist To view extra work by the artist, please go to ziesookyou.com, in addition to www.fb.com/ziesook © Copyright Reserved ziesook’s Scent of Art #mixedmedia #photographer #contemporaryart #modernart #expressionism #galleryart #conceptart #interiordesign #trendy #photoshoot #abstractexpressionism #homedecor #pictures #modern #floral #modernartist #mixedmediaartist #photographersofinstagram #artistsoninstagram #poryrait #artwork #artist #ziesook #유지숙 #collage #saatchiart #theotherartfair #theotherartfairdfw
